Strategic Imagination and Business Innovation

The Business Institute delivered an innovative workshop for the Fantastic Services team, based on the LEGO® Serious Play® methodology. Participants had the opportunity to unlock their innovation potential and structure an effective value creation process within the company.

Goals

The workshop was designed to support the Fantastic Services team in developing their innovation potential by providing a structured framework for creating, understanding and applying different types of innovations. Through the use of LEGO® Serious Play®, participants were encouraged to reflect on their role in the innovation process, explore both barriers and opportunities, and co-create a shared vision for innovation within the company.

Main objectives of the workshop:
  • To support participants in understanding and differentiating between various types of innovation – incremental, revolutionary, architectural, and disruptive
  • To raise awareness of the role of teams and individual contributions in driving innovation
  • To foster constructive communication and a shared understanding of the innovation process
  • To develop practical skills for structuring and applying innovative solutions in the real business context of Fantastic Services

Target audience:
The workshop was tailored for the Fantastic Services team, engaged in various aspects of business innovation. Participants had the opportunity to reflect on their influence in the innovation process and to build a stronger sense of team collaboration within the company.

Design

The workshop was developed in an interactive format, using LEGO® Serious Play® to engage participants in real business scenarios.

Key components included:
  • Introduction to the different types of imagination and strategic imagination models, and their impact on business innovation capacity
  • Individual profiling of participants’ imagination types
  • Construction of a collective team innovation profile
  • Exploration of real cases from Fantastic Services, with a focus on adapting innovation tools to the company’s specific challenges
  • Self-assessment and personal action planning – each participant formulated individual steps for applying the insights gained in their daily work

Results

The workshop generated significant outcomes for both the participants and the company:
  • Shared awareness of individual and team innovation potential – specifically for generating and managing innovation in a business context
  • Structured understanding of different innovation types – including incremental, revolutionary, architectural, and radical innovation
  • Clearly identified opportunities for improving the innovation process – including a shared model for desirable enhancements in how innovation is approached within the company
  • Increased motivation and commitment to innovation – the experience challenged participants to think more ambitiously and to explore new possibilities for innovation in their roles
